Amritsar, 06 April (H.S.): In a major security breakthrough, the Counter Intelligence wing of Punjab Police has busted an ISI-backed terror module allegedly being operated by Pakistan Intelligence Operatives. The operation led to the arrest of three accused and the recovery of two hand grenades and a foreign-made Glock pistol.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that the arrested individuals have been identified as Sarabjit Singh from village Ammishah in Tarn Taran, Bikramjit Singh from village Nangal Pannuwan in Amritsar, and Amandeep Singh from Indra Colony in Amritsar. He further revealed that the recovered grenades bear markings of the Pakistan Ordnance Factory, indicating strong cross-border linkages.

According to preliminary investigations, the module was planning coordinated attacks targeting police establishments across multiple states. However, timely action by the Punjab Police prevented a major security threat. Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members linked to the network.

Sharing operational details, AIG State Special Operations Cell Amritsar Sukhminder Singh Mann said the arrests were made during an intelligence-based operation. Police teams first apprehended Sarabjit Singh and Amandeep Singh and recovered the grenades and pistol from their possession.

Further probe revealed that Bikramjit Singh, the key operative and primary contact of PIOs, was operating from Deesa in Gujarat. Acting swiftly, Punjab Police coordinated with Gujarat ATS, leading to his arrest in a joint operation.

Investigations also indicate that the accused were in regular contact with ISI handlers via social media platforms. The group was allegedly planning grenade attacks on police establishments in Punjab and other states under instructions from across the border.

A case has been registered at Police Station SSOC Amritsar under relevant sections of the Explosive Substances (Amendment) Act, Arms Act, and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway to dismantle the entire network.
