Golaghat, 06 April (HS): Tension gripped Assam’s Sarupathar area after unidentified miscreants hurled a grenade at the residence of BJP candidate Biswajit Phukan in Bilgaon Changpul on Monday.

According to reports on Monday, the grenade was thrown at Phukan’s residence. At the time of the incident, no family members were present inside the house, and only a caretaker was reportedly on the premises. No casualties have been reported so far.

Soon after the incident, police personnel rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Security in the area has been tightened following the attack, which has triggered panic and heightened concern among local residents.

Meanwhile, Biswajit Phukan has lodged a formal complaint at the Barpathar Police Station. Police are working to identify those involved in the attack and ascertain the motive behind the incident.------------
