
Guwahati, 06 April (HS): Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor of Assam, chaired an Industrialists’ Meet with a delegation from the Indian Industries Association at Lok Bhavan in Guwahati on Monday.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor emphasized Assam’s strategic location, enhanced connectivity, policy support, and investor-friendly ecosystem, positioning the state as a preferred destination for investment. He highlighted the significant role of the Central Government in accelerating infrastructure and industrial growth, including emerging sectors such as semiconductors.
Urging industry leaders to tap into Assam’s vast potential, Acharya assured that the State Government remains committed to fostering a conducive business environment to ensure sustainable and inclusive economic development. He called upon industrialists to actively participate in Assam’s growth journey, reiterating the government’s focus on transparency and ease of doing business.
The Governor also underscored initiatives like “Advantage Assam-2.0” as key drivers in attracting investments and showcasing the state’s strengths across sectors. He noted that the MSME sector continues to play a crucial role in employment generation and inclusive growth, and stressed the need for further strengthening the segment.
Earlier, Narendra Shah, Commissioner of Industries, Assam, delivered a detailed presentation on “Assam – India’s Fastest Growing State,” outlining competitive advantages, infrastructure improvements, and the evolving investment ecosystem. Dinesh Goyal, National President of the Indian Industries Association, also addressed the gathering.
A documentary on “Industrial Scenario in Assam” highlighting the state’s rapid economic transformation and industrial progress was screened during the event. SS Meenakshi Sundaram, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor, delivered the welcome address, while SN Bhowmick proposed the vote of thanks.
