Jammu, 06 April (H.S.): The BJP on Monday celebrated its 47th foundation day across Jammu and Kashmir, as party cadre organised rallies, hoisted flags and held programmes at multiple levels.

The party units organised programmes from the booth to the district level to spread awareness among the public about its ideology and initiatives.

As part of the celebrations, BJP workers hoisted party flags at the residence of Sat Sharma in Jammu, at the party headquarters, and took out rallies across the city and other parts of the Union Territory, highlighting the achievements of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.

Talking to reporters, Sat Sharma said that the BJP founded on April 6, 1980 has grown into the world’s largest political party. He said, “India is steadily progressing under the current leadership and reiterated the party’s commitment to inclusive development.

“India is emerging as a leading global power under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, guided by the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas’,” he added.

He also conveyed his best wishes to party workers, voters, supporters and wellwishers across Jammu and Kashmir and the country. Sharma said that the foundation day is being celebrated like a festival, with party flags hoisted at booths, homes of booth presidents and workers, and with illuminated party offices since the previous evening.

Emphasising the party’s core ideology, he said that for the BJP cadre, the nation’s interest comes first, followed by the party’s interest, while personal interest comes last. He also urged supporters and sympathisers to hoist the party flag at their homes.

The party MLA Yudhvir Sethi, who led a rally carrying party flags in the old city area, said the BJP, with around 18 crore members, is like a vast banyan tree and the largest political party in the world.

He said party workers act as “soldiers’ of the organisation and nurture it through dedication and selfless service.

“The large number of workers gathered here reflects their spirit of sacrifice, as they believe in giving rather than taking, which has taken the party to great heights,” he said.

The celebrations witnessed participation of senior leaders, district officebearers and grassroots workers, who reiterated their commitment to strengthening the party and working towards national development.
