Bhubaneswar, 06 April (H.S.): The Odisha government has announced the constitution of Special Development Councils (SDCs) for 23 districts, along with the appointment of Chairpersons and Vice-Chairpersons aimed at strengthening grassroots governance and accelerating development in tribal and backward regions.

According to the official announcement, Basistha Nayak has been appointed as Chairperson and Surumuni Chhatar as Vice-Chairperson for Angul district, while Ballabh Dharua and Jayanti Bhoi have been named for Balangir. In Balasore, Bipin Marandi and Jharana Singh have been appointed, and in Bargarh, Gobardhan Bhoi and Tilottama Bhue will lead the council. For Boudh, Damaru Dhar Kahar and Jharana Jani have been selected, while Deogarh will be headed by Prashant Behera and Pramila Kishan. In Dhenkanal, Nauri Singh and Sebati Bhoi have been appointed, and in Gajapati, Kamadev Badanayak and Pankajini Dalai will take charge.

Similarly, Nilamadhab Patra and Lalita Pradhan have been appointed for Ganjam, Rajendra Kandulia and Shani Jarika for Jajpur, and Samal Naik along with Samyukta Oram for Jharsuguda. Kalahandi will be led by Bijay Dishari and Reena Bhoi, while Kandhamal will have Managobinda Pradhan and Kalpana Kahar. In Keonjhar, Mamita Naik and Manas Naik have been named, while Koraput will be overseen by Bhagaban Muduli and Sukanti Majhi. For Malkangiri, Gangadhar Sodi and Sabitri Padiami have been appointed, and in Mayurbhanj, Budhan Murmu and Kaushalya Naik will serve in leadership roles.

Further appointments include Basanti Majhi and Lingaraj Bhatra for Nabarangpur, Trinath Mallik and Samita Dehuri for Nayagarh, Homesing Majhi and Belamati Majhi for Nuapada, Bhagindra Kishan and Sushama Munda for Sambalpur, Vidyadhar Shabar and Manjula Miniaka for Rayagada, and Santosh Amat along with Gangi Kindo for Sundargarh.

The formation of these Special Development Councils is aimed at promoting inclusive growth, preserving tribal culture, and ensuring effective implementation of welfare schemes at the grassroots level. Officials stated that the newly appointed members will play a crucial role in planning and executing development initiatives tailored to the specific needs of their respective districts.
