Lucknow, 3
April (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to attend a
spectacular theatrical spectacle called 'Mahanatya Samrat Vikramaditya' in
Varanasi. The event, which will take place at the BLW grounds from April 3 to
5, 2026, intends to highlight the life, justice, and golden age of the famous
Ujjain ruler from the first century BCE.
The Samrat
Vikramaditya Shodh Sansthan presents a high-tech cultural display with music,
dancing, and live animals (elephants, horses, and camels). The drama focuses on
Emperor Vikramaditya's reputation as a just ruler, as well as his role in
ushering in the Vikram Samvat era following his victory over the Shakas. The
performance will be attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh
CM Mohan Yadav, and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
This
performance is part of the Madhya Pradesh government's efforts to promote
India's cultural legacy, focusing on the monarch who, according to mythology,
found ancient Ayodhya. This event is consistent with the Uttar Pradesh
government's efforts to promote religious and cultural tourism centered on
important personalities in Indian history.
His
post on X, reads as follows: “Today, I will participate in a grand drama
program being held in Kashi, based on the inspiring life of Emperor
Vikramaditya, a symbol of righteousness, justice, and good governance. This
event is a powerful medium to revive our glorious history and eternal values. I
am confident that this event, which inspires a sense of pride in our rich
cultural heritage, will provide a new perspective to the country's new
generation.”
