New Delhi, 29 April (H.S.): In a significant boost to railway infrastructure, Jaipur's suburban Khatipura station is being transformed into a fully self-sufficient mega terminal station, poised to serve as an alternative to Jaipur Junction and handle the growing volume of trains.
According to the Railway Ministry, the station will feature modern passenger amenities and state-of-the-art technical facilities. A Coach Care Complex costing approximately ₹205 crore is under construction, equipped with an automatic coach washing plant, computerized wheel profile management system, coach lifting unit, and high-capacity cranes for comprehensive train maintenance, cleaning, and inspection.
Currently boasting 6 high-level platforms and 8 rail lines for seamless passenger boarding and train movements, additional lines for maintenance, shunting, and stabling are being developed toward both Jaipur and Dausa directions. The project includes a two-story linen maintenance building, three-story administrative block, yard master's office, wheel lathe shed, charging facilities, and specialized water filling arrangements.
The ministry stated that developing Khatipura as a satellite terminal will unlock new long-distance routes including the Delhi corridor, positioning it as a centralized maintenance hub for Vande Bharat, LHB, and DEMU rakes. This will alleviate congestion at Jaipur Junction, providing the city with a modern alternative railway terminal.
