New Delhi, 27 April (H.S.): met NITI Aayog full‑time member Professor Gobardhan Das on Monday morning, shortly after the government announced the re‑constitution of the policy‑think‑tank’s full‑time team. In a message posted on the social‑media platform X, the Prime Minister said Professor Das’s life has been marked by struggles, which have only deepened his commitment to social service and humanitarian work.

PM Modi highlighted that this dedication is clearly visible in Prof Das’s work and added that his experience and scholarship will strengthen India’s policy‑making architecture. The meeting comes after the Union government, on Friday, unveiled the new full‑time composition of NITI Aayog, appointing senior economist Ashok Kumar Lahiri as its Vice‑Chairperson and inducting five new full‑time members: Rajiv Gauba, Professor K. V. Raju, Professor Gobardhan Das, Professor Abhay Karandikar, and Dr. M. Srinivas.

With Prof Das’s background in public health and immunology, the government expects his insights to contribute significantly to health, social‑sector and human‑capital‑focused policies within the revamped NITI Aayog framework.
