New Delhi, 27 April (H.S.): The Delhi High Court has quashed the criminal case registered against industrialist Beena Modi and senior advocate Lalit Bhasin on a complaint filed by Samir Modi. A Bench of Justice Saurabh Banerjee passed the order after being informed that the parties have settled the matter and that Samir Modi has withdrawn his complaint against them.

During Monday’s hearing, conducted via video‑conferencing, Beena Modi, Samir Modi and Lalit Bhasin appeared before the Court. The Bench noted that a settlement had been reached among the parties even though no formal written agreement or monetary transaction had been placed on record. When the Court asked Samir Modi directly whether he had settled the matter, he stated that he had withdrawn his complaint. Based on this, the High Court allowed the application moved by Beena Modi, Lalit Bhasin and Surendra Prasad (Beena Modi’s personal security officer) and quashed the case registered against them.

Prior to the quashing order, the Delhi High Court had, on March 18, imposed an interim stay on the trial‑court proceedings initiated on the FIR lodged by Samir Modi. The case originated from an incident on May 30, 2024, when Surendra Prasad was on duty at the Godfrey Philips India (GPI) gate, and a board meeting was being held at the company’s premises in Omaxe Square, Jasola, New Delhi. According to the FIR and police records, Samir Modi tried to forcibly enter the closed meeting room, leading to a confrontation with the security personnel.

In his complaint, Samir Modi alleged that Beena Modi had planned an attack on him to strengthen her position in the ongoing family and corporate dispute over the company. The FIR also named Lalit Bhasin and Surendra Prasad, accusing them of assaulting him during the board‑meeting episode.

The trial court had taken cognizance of the Delhi Police–filed chargesheet and issued summons to Beena Modi, Surendra Prasad and Lalit Bhasin, but those proceedings have now been terminated following the High Court’s order quashing the case in view of the settlement.
