April 24 (HS): Police apprehended a Pakistani national suspected of residing
unlawfully in the country and charged him with using false identification cards,
officials said on Friday. Superintendent of Police (City) Abhishek Pratap Ajeya
said the culprit was apprehended on Thursday at Numaish Pul under the
jurisdiction of Kotwali Nagar police station during a checking drive based on
suspicion and specific information. Police identified the culprit as Wasid
Irshad, a New Karachi, Pakistan resident. They stated that his mother, Bilqis
Fatima, was granted a long-term visa but died in 2012. Irshad also requested
for a long-term visa, which is still being considered.
Police
added that after validating papers, they discovered that the Aadhaar card,
driver's license, and passport were issued under the false name of Syed Wasid
Ali, a resident of Sushila Vihar in Bulandshahr. A case has been filed, and the
accused has been arrested and put to jail. Police say an investigation is
ongoing.
