Murshidabad, 23 April (H.S.): Amid the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, an emotional scene unfolded in Naoda, Murshidabad, as the wife of Haragobinda Das—who was killed in earlier violence—arrived at a polling booth to cast her vote.

After voting, she spoke to the media and demanded justice for her husband’s death. She stated that despite the passage of time, her family has not received justice, and her primary appeal remains accountability for the incident.

Her presence at the polling station highlighted the lingering impact of past violence on local residents. The incident added an emotional dimension to the ongoing elections in Naoda, an area that has already witnessed tension and sporadic unrest in recent times.

The voting process, however, continued under security arrangements, with officials maintaining that polling across the state has been largely peaceful despite a few isolated incidents.
