Gorakhpur, April 23
(HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that when the intention is clear,
destiny does not take long to change. If there is a strong will to act and the
intention is in line with it, circumstances can be seen changing. The
developmental transformation that has taken place in Gorakhpur within nine
years is proof of this. Chief Minister Yogi was addressing the gathering on
Thursday morning after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for 497
development projects worth Rs 1,055 crore, including an eco-park created by
disposing of legacy waste at Ekla Bandha on the Rapti River, and the
Nausadh-Maluni four-lane road. On this occasion, he also launched the Clean
School Campaign by unveiling a cleanliness toolkit and calendar.
At the inauguration and foundation stone laying
ceremony held at Ekla Bandha, the Chief Minister said that if there is a will
to do something good, a lot of change can be achieved. Referring to the new
transformation of Ekla Bandha into an eco-park, he said that upon entering
Gorakhpur from Varanasi or Lucknow, the first thing one encountered was
garbage. It was very unsightly and unpleasant. However, with the will to do
something, change gradually occurred. He said that 30-35 years ago, where
Transport Nagar is now located, all of Gorakhpur's garbage was dumped there.
The Municipal Corporation resolved the issue, and today there is Transport
Nagar, the best market, and the Mandi of Gorakhpur. After Transport Nagar was built,
garbage began to be dumped at Ekla Bandha. This resulted in air pollution, soil
contamination, river pollution, and impacts on the groundwater level. The
National Green Tribunal (NGT) even imposed fines for this. The Chief Minister
said that intention changed destiny, and a wonderful eco-park was created.
Praising the entire Municipal Corporation team for
the development of the Eco Park, the Chief Minister said that the Municipal
Corporation has transformed waste into gold at the entrance of Gorakhpur city.
The Eco Park, created by remediating 2.26 lakh metric tons of waste, has become
a picnic spot and an excellent tourist destination for the entire family. After
the inauguration, the Chief Minister also toured the Eco Park.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Gorakhpur
has achieved unprecedented success in every field including road connectivity,
health, sanitation, education, sports, industry, and employment. Previously,
Gorakhpur lacked sports facilities, but today, Gorakhpur boasts several mini-stadiums.
An international stadium is being constructed in the Gorakhpur Rural Assembly
constituency. AIIMS and BRD Medical College have become centers of excellence
in medical care. Four universities are located here. A fertilizer factory has
become operational in Gorakhpur, and a sugar mill has been established in
Pipraich. Furthermore, the flood problem in the district, including
Dakshinanchal, is rapidly being resolved.
Describing the Nausadh-Malauni four-lane road in
front of the Eco Park as a solution to Nausadh's traffic congestion problem, CM
Yogi said that this approximately three-kilometer-long four-lane road will make
commuting between Lucknow and Varanasi even easier. He listed the city's
various achievements.
The message of cleanliness will reach every home
through school children. Launching the Clean Schools Campaign from the stage of
the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony, the Chief Minister said
that a special campaign involving school children is being launched to make
Gorakhpur a 7-star garbage-free city and place it among the top three in the
Swachh Survey. Through the participation of over one lakh children, the message
of cleanliness will reach every home.
Member of Parliament Ravi Kishan Shukla and Mayor
Dr. Manglesh Srivastava also expressed their views at the event. District
Panchayat President Sadhna Singh, MLAs Fateh Bahadur Singh, Rajesh Tripathi,
Shriram Chauhan, Mahendrapal Singh, Pradeep Shukla, Sarwan Nishad, MLC Dr.
Dharmendra Singh, State Women's Commission Vice President Charu Chaudhary, BJP
Regional President Sahajanand Rai, former Mayor Anju Chaudhary, Dr. Satya
Pandey, District President Janardan Tiwari, Metropolitan Coordinator Rajesh
Gupta, etc. were prominently present on the occasion.
Additionally, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
flagged off the newly added vehicles to the Municipal Corporation's fleet from
the venue. These vehicles include a Poclain, a CNG Magic, a skid loader, and a
Moksha vehicle equipped with a deep freezer. Moksha vehicles will be used for
the dignified transportation of mortal remains.
The foundation
stone of these major projects was also laid:
Beautification of
three parks under Upvan Scheme, cost Rs 6.44 crore
83 works of drain
construction for drainage in various wards, cost Rs 107.44 crore
Construction of
RCC storm water drain from Gulriha police station to Chiluataal, cost Rs 123.81
crore
Green belt and
mini forestation works in various wards, cost Rs 35.01 crore
In a post on X, he
stated, “Today, I participated in the inauguration and foundation stone laying
ceremony of 497 projects, constructed at a cost of Rs. 1,055 crore, in the
sacred city of Gorakhpur, the abode of the great yogi Guru Shri Gorakhnath Ji.
On this occasion, along with conferring commendation certificates to personnel
who have excelled in various departments, the posters and toolkit for the
'Swachh School Abhiyan' were released, and a green flag was also shown to the
municipal corporation's vehicles for solid waste management. The campaign
launched by the double-engine government over the past 9 years to enhance
connectivity and expand world-class public facilities in Gorakhpur—this program
is an important link in that chain. Heartfelt congratulations to the Mayor,
councilors, Municipal Commissioner, and the entire team of the Gorakhpur
Municipal Corporation, along with the residents of the district, for
transforming 'waste into gold' under 'Kachre ko Kanchana' scheme.”
