Birbhum, 23 April (H.S.): Amid the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, tension escalated in Khoyrasol area of Birbhum district after villagers allegedly hurled stones at central security forces during polling.

According to reports, the incident occurred near a polling booth where central forces were deployed to maintain law and order. A section of villagers suddenly turned aggressive and started pelting stones at the security personnel, creating panic in the area.

The situation briefly went out of control as the forces tried to manage the crowd and ensure smooth voting. Such attacks on police or security personnel have been reported in similar situations where tensions escalate quickly during local disputes or unrest.

Following the incident, additional forces were rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. Security in the area was tightened to prevent further escalation and to ensure that polling could continue without major disruption.

Despite the unrest, officials worked to stabilize the situation and maintain the voting process. The Election Commission is closely monitoring such incidents to ensure free and fair elections across sensitive regions.
