Murshidabad, 23 April (H.S.): Amid the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, fresh incidents of violence were reported from Domkal in Murshidabad district, adding to the already tense atmosphere during polling.

According to reports, clashes broke out between supporters of rival political groups in the area, leading to a volatile situation. The confrontation reportedly escalated into physical violence, leaving several people injured. Local sources indicated that the clash began as an argument but quickly turned aggressive, with both sides attacking each other.

The injured were rushed to nearby medical facilities, where some were said to be in serious condition. The incident created panic among residents, especially with polling underway or approaching in the region.

Security forces, including the police and central personnel, were deployed immediately after the incident to control the situation. Authorities increased patrolling and maintained strict vigilance to prevent further escalation.

The violence in Domkal comes amid a series of disturbances reported from Murshidabad, including clashes, allegations of intimidation, and even crude bomb incidents in nearby areas.
