Kolkata, 23 April (H.S.): Amid the ongoing West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed a public meeting in the Chowrangee area of North Kolkata, where she launched a strong attack on the BJP and raised concerns over the election process.

During her address, Banerjee alleged that there is excessive deployment of central forces in the state, accusing them of creating pressure on voters and influencing the democratic process. She claimed that attempts are being made to intimidate voters and disrupt free and fair elections.

The Trinamool Congress supremo also urged administrative and police officials to remain neutral and perform their duties independently, warning against any bias during polling. She emphasized that democracy must be protected and that officials should not act under political pressure.

Hitting out at the BJP, Banerjee accused the party of misusing central agencies and trying to manipulate the electoral environment in its favour. She called upon voters to give a strong response through their votes and defend democratic values.

The rally is part of her ongoing campaign across Kolkata and other parts of the state as political activity intensifies ahead of the crucial phases of voting. Banerjee expressed confidence that the All India Trinamool Congress will return to power once again, citing continued public support.
