Nagaon (Assam), 23 April (HS): A vehicle carrying illegal diesel was seized by police at Kakati village in Kampur, raising concerns over continued fuel smuggling in the region on Thursday.

Acting on inputs, Kampur Police intercepted the Bolero pickup vehicle loaded with suspected stolen diesel. However, the driver managed to flee from the spot, abandoning the vehicle.

According to police sources, the diesel was being transported illegally from Lumding via Kampur towards Manipur Top in Raha. During the operation, police recovered approximately 1,500 litres of diesel stored in seven barrels from the vehicle.

The seized vehicle bears registration number AS01 QC 1993. Further investigation is underway to trace the accused and uncover the network involved in the illegal fuel trade.-----------
