Hooghly, 23 April (H.S.): A shocking and tragic incident has been reported from Hooghly district in West Bengal during the ongoing Assembly Elections. A 65-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide in Aima Somsara village under Dadpur police station, creating panic and grief in the area.

The deceased has been identified as Rabi Majhi. According to family members, her body was found hanging in a bamboo grove near her house on Thursday morning. The incident has left the family devastated and triggered concern among local residents.

Family sources stated that she had been under severe mental stress for the past few days. Issues related to discrepancies in her documents had been troubling her, and she remained anxious even during the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) process. Despite repeated reassurances from family members, her condition did not improve.

According to the family, she was deeply worried that the absence of her name from the voter list might prevent her from casting her vote and create uncertainty about her future. This fear reportedly intensified her mental distress, which ultimately led to the tragic step.
