Guwahati, 20 April (HS): In a tragic incident triggered by heavy rainfall in the city, a young woman was reportedly swept away by a drain in the Maligaon area on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

According to reports, the incident occurred amid incessant rain when the victim, identified as Payel Nath from Dharapur, was carried away by strong water currents in a roadside drain. She has remained missing since the incident.

Rescue operations are currently underway, with teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) actively engaged in search efforts to trace the missing woman. Authorities stated that the operation is continuing despite challenging weather conditions.------------
