Guwahati, 20 April (HS): Guwahati city was severely affected by artificial flooding following heavy rainfall during the night, leading to waterlogging in several parts of the city.

The downpour submerged roads and by-lanes, disrupting normal life and vehicular movement across multiple localities. Residents faced significant inconvenience as water accumulated in low-lying areas. The Kamrup metropolitan district administration has announced the school holiday in the meantime.

Areas including Hatigaon, Rukminigaon, Tarun Nagar, Nabinnagar, Jatia and several other parts of the city were among the worst affected, with floodwaters entering streets and residential zones.

The situation arose due to intense rainfall overwhelming the drainage system, resulting in artificial flood-like conditions across the metropolitan area. Authorities are monitoring the situation as water levels continue to fluctuate.-----------
