Bhubaneswar, 02 April (H.S.): The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) is expected to announce the High School Certificate (HSC) examination results in the first or second week of May, BSE President Srikant Tarai stated on Thursday.

Tarai informed that the evaluation process is progressing smoothly and is likely to conclude today, with no reports of errors or disputes. So far, answer sheet assessment has been fully completed in four districts. Following the declaration of results, students will receive their mark sheets and certificates promptly. Those who do not pass in one or more subjects will be given an opportunity to appear for supplementary examinations.

The HSC examinations were conducted from February 19 to March 2, alongside the Madhyama and Open School examinations. This year, authorities placed strong emphasis on conducting fair and malpractice-free exams. Special squads formed by the School and Mass Education Department carried out surprise inspections at examination centres.

To strengthen monitoring, all centres were placed under CCTV surveillance, with live feeds monitored from a central control room. Live streaming was conducted from 1,364 centres. In Maoist-affected regions, 22 nodal centres were established at police stations to ensure smooth conduct of examinations.

The evaluation process began on March 19 across 51 centres statewide, involving around 15,000 examiners. Strict measures, including CCTV surveillance and a ban on mobile phones within evaluation premises, were implemented to ensure transparency.

This year, out of 5,46,876 registered candidates, 5,36,946 appeared for the examination, while 9,930 students were absent, resulting in an absentee rate of 1.81 per cent.
