Lucknow, April 18 (HS): Uttar

Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the failure of the

Constitution Amendment Bill to establish gender reservation in legislatures in

2029 and increase the number of Lok Sabha seats as a betrayal of women's

authority in the country. The Constitution Amendment Bill to introduce 33%

reservation for women in legislatures by 2029 and increase the number of Lok

Sabha seats to 816 was rejected on Friday. In a post on X Adityanath said,

Today, a dark chapter was added to the history of India's great

democracy. The opposition's refusal to adopt the Constitutional Amendment

Bill required for the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' is a slap in the face of

'Bharat Mata' (Mother India). It is a betrayal of the entire nation's women

power; it violates their democratic rights.

The Congress-led 'INDI' alliance

has revealed its anti-women attitude. The ladies of the nation are observing

and comprehending everything. They will remember the deception and unfairness,

and when the time comes, they will undoubtedly respond. The NDA coalition, led

by our Prime Minister @narendramodi ji, will continue to work tirelessly to

preserve women's honour, dignity, and rights, as well as to ensure their

empowerment. In the Lok Sabha, 298 lawmakers supported the Bill, while 230

opposed it. The Bill needed 352 votes to pass with a two-thirds majority.
