Kolkata, 18 April (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address four public rallies in West Bengal’s Jangalmahal region on Sunday, intensifying the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign ahead of the first phase of Assembly elections, with a special focus on tribal voters.
According to the schedule, Modi will hold rallies across key areas of the Rarh Bengal belt, including Bishnupur, Purulia, Jhargram and Medinipur. Addressing four rallies in a single day marks a significant push in the party’s campaign efforts in the state.
As per the itinerary, the Prime Minister is expected to arrive at Andal airport on Saturday night and stay overnight in Durgapur. He will then travel to Bankura on Sunday morning to address his first rally at Barjora around 11 am.
He is scheduled to proceed to Purulia for a second rally in Balarampur Assembly constituency at around 12:45 pm. The third rally will take place near the municipal area in Jhargram at approximately 2:45 pm, followed by the fourth and final rally in Medinipur later in the day.
In addition, Modi is slated to visit Belur Math in Howrah on April 23, from where he will hold a roadshow up to Shalkia. A public meeting in Krishnanagar is also planned on the same day.
With only five days remaining for the first phase of polling, electioneering has intensified across the state. Several senior BJP leaders, including the Prime Minister, have been campaigning extensively.
The BJP has projected Modi as its principal campaign face across all 294 Assembly constituencies, while reiterating its “Sonar Bangla” vision.
Political observers believe the Prime Minister’s visit is a strategic attempt to consolidate support among tribal communities in the Jangalmahal region.
