Bareilly, April 18 (HS): Unraveling

a case of cow slaughter in the Sheeshgarh police station area, police arrested

two accused in an injured state during an encounter on Saturday morning, while

one of their accomplices escaped by taking advantage of the forest. Police

recovered two pistols, seven cartridges, cash, and cow slaughter equipment from

the accused.

According to the police, on April

3, 2026, Omkar, a resident of Bargawan village, reported that unknown

individuals had slaughtered a cow and dumped its remains near the Kichha River.

A case number 84/2026 was registered at the Sheeshgarh police station under

sections 3/5/8 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CS Act) against unknown

individuals. Police teams were formed to solve the case and a continuous search

was underway.

At around 5 a.m. on Saturday, the

station in-charge was on patrol with the Sheshgarh police force. Three

suspicious individuals opened fire on the police team near the Panwadiya

bridge. Police retaliated in self-defense, shooting two of the suspects. The

injured were identified as Abdul Rehman (35), a resident of Dhoratanda,

Bhojipura police station, and Danish Qureshi, a resident of Dhoratanda.

Police arrested both men and

searched them. Abdul Rahman was found with a pistol, one live and two empty

cartridges, and Rs. 1,260 in cash. Danish Qureshi was found with a pistol, two

live and two empty cartridges, Rs. 1,550 in cash, and cow slaughter equipment.

Both have been sent to CHC Baheri for treatment.

The third accused, Arif, escaped

from the scene during the encounter. Police are combing the forest to arrest

him. A forensic team has been called to the scene to collect evidence.

Superintendent of Police, North,

Mukesh Chandra Mishra, stated that police teams were deployed, taking serious

cognizance of the cow slaughter incident. Two accused were arrested during the

encounter, while the search for one is ongoing. Further legal action is being

taken based on the seizure.
