Mumbai, 16 Apr (HS): Four children drowned in a pond

dug in Deglur area under Nanded Municipal Corporation for construction of a

nullah. The children had entered the pond to swim and drowned as they could not

asses the depth of the pond.

The names of the ill-fated children were given as

Mohammad Adnan Mohammad Firoz (10), Mohammad Ali Mohammad Idris (13), Sayyad

Irfan Sayyad Firoz (13) and Ayan Ibrahim Bagwan (11). All were residents of Islampura in Deglur.

Investigation into the case has been initiated.

Instructions to register an offence against the Municipality for negligence have

been issued. The bodies of the children were referred for the post-mortem.
