Lucknow, April 17 (HS): Yogi

Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, paid respect to former Prime

Minister Chandrashekhar on his birthday and highlighted his achievements to

India's democracy. Yogi characterized him as a passionate socialist and

nationalist leader. In 2017, he released Rashtrapurush Chandrashekhar - Do Tuk

in Parliament, a biography on the politician. Yogi Adityanath paid respect to

former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar on his birth anniversary on 'X' and

recalled his modest existence. Yogi claimed that Chandrashekhar ji prevented

socialism from devolving into casteism and prioritized national interests. Yogi

stated that, despite their conflicting philosophies, he worked with

Chandrashekhar ji and was impressed by his ideals.

In a post on X, he remarked, “Humble tributes on the birth anniversary of

Chandrashekhar ji, a prominent socialist leader who emerged from mass struggles

and was the former Prime Minister of India. His outspoken personality, simple

life, and politics that prioritized national interest will always be a source

of inspiration for Indian democracy.”
