
Kolkata, 15 April (H.S.): Voter data released ahead of the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 has highlighted the electoral landscape across eight districts of North Bengal. According to the Election Commission, Darjeeling district leads in terms of women voter participation, with the number of female voters surpassing male voters.
As per the data, Darjeeling has a total of 1,110,425 voters. Among them, there are 552,064 male voters and 558,335 female voters, making it the only district in the region where women outnumber men. The district also has 26 third-gender voters.
In Cooch Behar, there are 2,263,771 voters, including 1,174,286 male voters, 1,089,468 female voters, and 17 third-gender voters. Alipurduar has a total of 1,164,506 voters, comprising 590,095 males, 574,395 females, and 16 third-gender voters.
Similarly, Jalpaiguri has 1,719,798 voters, including 872,799 male voters, 846,984 female voters, and 15 third-gender voters. Kalimpong has a relatively smaller electorate of 201,619 voters, with no registered third-gender voters.
In Uttar Dinajpur, the total number of voters stands at 1,968,974, including 1,041,026 males, 927,882 females, and 66 third-gender voters. Dakshin Dinajpur has 1,159,519 voters, comprising 598,086 male voters, 561,390 female voters, and 43 third-gender voters.
Meanwhile, Malda district has the highest number of third-gender voters among the eight districts, with a total electorate of 2,791,736, including 1,442,060 male voters, 1,349,609 female voters, and 67 third-gender voters.
The data clearly indicates strong participation of women voters across North Bengal, particularly in Darjeeling, where female voters have outnumbered their male counterparts.
