Not paid compensation

for 15 years

(HS): In a shocking incident five farmers attempted suicide by consuming poison

in front of the office of Rajura Sub-Divisional Officer. The farmers belonging

to Kolam community took the extreme step alleging that they were not paid the

compensation after handing over their land for lime mining to Manikgarh Cement

(Ultratech) Comnay in Kusumbi village in Korpana Tehsil of Chandrapur district.

Their land was

acquired 15 years ago. They have been frequenting the authorities concerned to

get compensation against their acquired land, but were sent back quoting

various reasons.

Finally on Monday

they met Rajura SDO Ravindra Mane and then consumed poison. Rajura Security

officials immediately rushed them to Rajua Sb-District Hospital and later

shifted to Chandra District Hospital as their condition started deteriorating.
