New Delhi, 14 April (H.S.):

On the 135th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Delhi Municipal Corporation held a special programme on Tuesday at its headquarters, where Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh paid floral tribute to Babasaheb’s statue.

The event was followed by a programme at the Kedar Nath Sahni Auditorium, where schoolchildren presented cultural performances. On the occasion, municipal employees were also felicitated for their outstanding work.

Addressing the gathering, Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh said Dr. Ambedkar’s life symbolised struggle, education and dedication to social justice. He said Babasaheb’s message of bringing change through education, even in adverse circumstances, remains a guiding light for all.

The Mayor added that Babasaheb’s call to “educate, organise and agitate” remains the foundation for empowering society. He urged everyone to follow Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals and remain committed to extending the benefits of development to the last person in society.

Senior officials, councillors and a large number of employees, including Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar, were present at the event.
