Militant Held in Joint Operation; Bunkers Destroyed, Arms Recovered in Manipur

Imphal, 14 April (HS): In a series of coordinated counter-insurgency operations, Manipur Police with support from Assam Police apprehended an alleged militant linked to extortion activities, while separate actions led to the destruction of bunkers and recovery of arms and ammunition across multiple districts in last 24 hours.

The arrested individual has been identified as Hodam Romen Singh alias Naobi (39), a resident of Kamranga in Jiribam district. He was picked up from Rupnagar under Lanka Police Station in Assam’s Hojai district. Police sources stated that the accused is an active cadre of the RPF/PLA and is also a co-accused in a case registered at Jiribam Police Station.

Meanwhile, in Ukhrul district, security forces dismantled four bunkers in the Mongkot Chepu village area under Litan Police Station in an another operation. During the operation, 35 empty cartridge cases were recovered from the site.

In a separate search operation conducted in Kangpokpi district, forces recovered a cache of arms and equipment from the stretch between Tingpibung and Leplen villages under Saikul Police Station. The seizure included five country-made bolt-action single-barrel guns, three pumpi weapons, one No. 36 hand grenade, two live rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, 50 empty cases of various calibers, and two radio sets along with a charger.

Security officials said the operations are part of intensified efforts to curb insurgent activities and ensure stability in the region.-----------
