Kolkata, 14 April (H.S.): Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday shared a message on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), paying solemn tribute to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary.
In her post, Mamata Banerjee remembered Dr. Ambedkar as the Father of the Constitution of India and highlighted Bengal’s historic role in facilitating his entry into the Constituent Assembly. She noted that his visionary leadership played a crucial role in shaping the future of the nation.
Banerjee emphasized that Ambedkar’s legacy remains highly relevant today, especially at a time when the core values of democracy—secularism, federalism, and social justice—require constant vigilance. She described his life’s work as a guiding light for the nation.
Reaffirming her commitment to an inclusive society, she stated that every citizen, irrespective of caste or creed, should be able to live with dignity and hope.
Banerjee also asserted that the rights of the people would not be allowed to be undermined, nor would the federal structure and the plural and secular fabric of the country be weakened.
On the occasion, she called upon citizens to rededicate themselves to protecting the democratic soul of India.
