New Delhi, 13 April (H.S.):
The Supreme Court rebuffed any succor to Rashtriya Janata Dal patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav in the Land-for-Jobs scam, declining to annul the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case.
The apex court posited that Yadav's contention prosecution sans requisite sanction under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act may be ventilated during trial in the lower court. Nonetheless, it exempted him from personal attendance therein.
On October 7, 2022, CBI filed a charge sheet arraigning Yadav, Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, and 13 others. The trial court cognized it on February 25, 2025.
