Guwahati, 13 April (HS): Assam Police has clarified that no firing incident took place at the residence of ULFA (I) chief Paresh Baruah in Jerai Gaon, dismissing earlier reports as a misunderstanding caused by firecracker sounds.

According to police sources, the noise heard near the residence was due to firecrackers burst to celebrate a birthday. The firecrackers were reportedly set off at a distance of around 150 metres from the house.

Officials stated that the sounds were recorded at approximately 12:04 am and 12:05 am, which led to confusion and speculation about a possible firing incident.

Assam Police has confirmed that there was no security breach or gunfire, and the situation remains normal.----------
