New Delhi, 13 April (H.S.):
The Assam government has petitioned the Supreme Court to contest the Telangana High Court's grant of one-week transit bail to Congress leader Pawan Khera in the FIR stemming from his allegations against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's wife, Rinki Bhuiyan Sarma, for possessing passports from multiple countries.
On April 10, 2026, the Telangana High Court, hearing Khera's plea, ordered a week's transit remand. This followed Assam Police's raid on April 7 at Khera's Delhi residence after the FIR registration; Khera was absent, prompting the legal maneuver for interim protection amid interstate jurisdictional tensions.
