Srinagar, 12 April (H.S.): Senior CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulgam, M. Y. Tarigami, today said the conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel marks the “beginning of a decline in US dominance” globally.

Speaking to reporters, Tarigami said the world was facing a precarious moment, with tensions in West Asia triggering widespread concern.

“This is the start of the decline of the empire. The US is arrogant and wants to rule the world on the basis of its power, but it should know that Iran has written a history that signals this decline of the empire has just begun,” he said.

He described the US and Israeli actions against Iran as an “imposed war,” adding that the developments carry the potential for a broader conflict.

Despite the situation, he said the people of Iran have shown “remarkable passion and unity” in the face of what he termed “excesses” and deserve appreciation for their “resilience.”

Referring to the evolving situation, Tarigami said diplomatic talks are underway in Pakistan but alleged that Israel remains “adamant” in continuing military actions, especially in Lebanon.

He warned that the concept of a “Greater Israel” has already led to the displacement of over a million people in Lebanon and raised fears that the country could be turned into “another Gaza.”

Tarigami further alleged that Israel’s actions are backed by the United States and cautioned that failure to stop Israel could draw in more countries, including Jordan and Syria, potentially destabilising the region further.

Tarigami also pointed to growing dissent internationally, saying people in both the United States and Israel have voiced opposition to the war on Iran.

Describing the developments as a turning point, he argued that they signal a gradual erosion of American global dominance.
