
Jammu, 12 April (H.S.): District Development Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of the Vibrant Villages Programme-II in the district.
The DDC reviewed the saturation status of the Government schemes in identified vibrant villages, emphasizing maximum outreach and impact. He also reviewed the progress achieved under Mission Yuva, directing concerned officers to intensify efforts for youth engagement and livelihood generation.
The meeting also focused on key health indicators, including the screening of tuberculosis and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in vibrant villages. The DDC stressed the importance of early detection, awareness and regular monitoring. He further reviewed the vaccination of cattle and instructed the Animal Husbandry Department to ensure complete coverage in a time-bound manner.
Progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) was also reviewed, with the DDC calling for expediting completion of pending works to ensure the provision of safe drinking water to all households. He also assessed the identification of land for milk processing units and directed concerned departments to resolve bottlenecks, if any.
The strengthening of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in vibrant villages was also discussed. The DDC also reviewed telecom connectivity in these areas and emphasized the need to bridge the gaps to support digital inclusion.
Highlighting the importance of social awareness, the DDC directed the departments to ensure effective implementation of the Nasha Mukht Abhiyan campaign in all vibrant villages, with active participation of the community.
The issue of playground identification was also taken up with directions to expedite the process to promote sports and recreational activities among youth.
