Kolkata, 12 April (H.S.) : With the West Bengal Assembly elections approaching, the political atmosphere in the state is intensifying. Amid this, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday addressed public rallies in Bankura and Purba Medinipur districts, calling for a change in power.
Addressing election meetings in Sonamukhi and Nandakumar Assembly constituencies, Adityanath campaigned in support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates Dibakar Gharami (Sonamukhi) and Nirmal Khara (Nandakumar). He said that the people of West Bengal are now seeking development, security, and good governance.
In his speech, Adityanath asserted that voters in the state have rejected “appeasement politics” and are ready to stand with the BJP for trust, safety, and inclusive development. He claimed that the “politics of ‘khela’” would soon end in what he described as the “land of nationalism,” paving the way for a new phase of development.
Targeting the ruling All India Trinamool Congress and Left parties, he alleged that their regimes had promoted lawlessness, corruption, and criminal activities in the state.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said that only a BJP-led “double-engine government” could address these issues effectively.
Referring to the public response in Sonamukhi, he said the enthusiasm of the people indicated that the BJP’s symbol, the lotus, was set to bloom in the state. He added that people want a government that prioritises faith, security, and holistic development.
Citing Uttar Pradesh as an example, Adityanath said the state has seen “no curfew, no riots,” with strict action taken against mafia and criminals. He maintained that wherever the BJP governs, law and order improves and new avenues for development are created.
During his address, he also raised the issue of the recent killing of a Dalit Hindu in Bangladesh, criticising West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for what he described as a lack of clear response from the state government.
Adityanath further stated that divisive politics in the name of language and culture would not be allowed, and anti-national forces would be dealt with firmly. He also assured protection of farmers’ interests, saying the people of Bengal are no longer willing to remain silent.
He alleged that under the Trinamool Congress government, West Bengal has become a hub of appeasement, corruption, and anarchy, but added that the electorate is now ready for change, which will be reflected in the upcoming election results.
