Jammu, 12 April (H.S.): Udhampur Police arrested four drug peddlers in two separate cases and recovered heroin from their possession.

During naka checking at Motor Shed, NHW Chenani, police party from PS Chenani intercepted one Ape Xtra LDX auto bearing registration No. JK01AW-2571 coming from Udhampur towards Kashmir.

On questioning, the driver disclosed his identity as Shabir Ahmed Chappa, son of Ghulam Mustafa, resident of Wazapora, Aali Kadal, Srinagar and co-passengers disclosed their identities as Aaqib Ahmed Dar son of Mehraj Din Dar of Maloora, Parimpora, Srinagar & Aamir Ahmed Ganie son of Abdul Gani Ganie of HMT Shalteng, Srinagar.

During their personal search, 10.16 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession following which the trio was arrested on the spot.

Accordingly, FIR No. 62/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani and investigation has been taken up.

In another case, FIR No. 134/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered against Irfan Ahmed son of Mamood Katoch of Panchal, Tehsil Ukhral, District Ramban, who was carrying 2.59 grams of heroin. On failing to provide satisfactory explanation, he was arrested on the spot. Further investigation is underway.
