Voter Surge: UP's electorate expand significantly by over 84L after SIR of voter lists
Lucknow, April 10 (HS): The electorate in Uttar Pradesh increased by more than 84 lakh to 13.39 crore following the conclusion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), according to the final voter list released on Friday.

April 10 (HS): The electorate in Uttar Pradesh increased by more than 84 lakh

to 13.39 crore following the conclusion of the Special Intensive Revision

(SIR), according to the final voter list released on Friday. Uttar Pradesh's

Chief Electoral Officer, Navdeep Rinwa, told a news conference at the Lok

Bhawan Media Centre here that the SIR exercise ran from October 27, 2025, to

April 10, 2026, and covered all 75 districts, 403 assembly seats, and polling

stations in the state.

He

stated that the 166-day exercise was carried out with the assistance of 75

District Election Officers (DEOs), 403 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs),

12,758 Assistant EROs, 18,026 BLO supervisors, and 1,77,516 Booth Level

Officers. In addition, 5,82,877 booth-level agents from recognized political

parties and lakhs of voters provided assistance.

He

stated that print, electronic, and digital media all played important roles in

raising awareness. Rinwa stated that the draft electoral roll released on

January 6, 2026, contained a total of 12,55,56,025 voters, comprising 6.88

crore male voters, 5.67 crore female voters, and 4,119 third gender voters. The

number of voters aged 18 to 19 was 3,33,981, with a gender ratio of 824 female

voters for every 1,000 male voters. The final election roll, issued on April

10, shows a total of 13,39,84,792 voters, he stated. Male voters total

7,30,71,071 (about 54%), female voters 6,09,09,525 (45.46%), and third-gender

voters 4,206 (less than 0.01%).

The

number of voters aged 18-19 has increased to 17,63,360, accounting for 1.32% of

the total electorate. The gender ratio has also improved, with 834 female

voters per 1,000 male voters. Rinwa said that the overall number of voters

increased by 84,28,767 between the draft and final rolls. This comprises an

increase of 42,27,902 male votes, 42,00,778 female voters, and 87

third-gendered voters. The 18-19 age bracket had an increase of 14,29,379

voters, while the gender ratio improved by 10 points from 824 to 834, he added.

Prayagraj saw the greatest rise in voters (3,29,421), followed by Lucknow

(2,85,961), Bareilly (almost 2,57,000), Ghaziabad (2,43,666), and Jaunpur

(2,37,590). The CEO stated that the successful completion of the modification

exercise shows the collaborative efforts of election authorities, political

parties, and voters throughout the state.
