Bongaigaon (Assam), 10 April (HS): Voting was reportedly halted for a brief period at a polling station in Assam’s Bongaigaon constituency after a polling officer offered namaz inside the booth premises.
The incident occurred at polling station number 1, located at the 59 No. Bijoygaon JB School, where the officer was seen performing prayers within the polling centre, leading to a temporary suspension of the voting process.
According to reports, the situation caused a short disruption before normal voting activities resumed.
The local residents raised objections as a Naam Ghar and a Mandir are already situated in the same campus. Several voters raise questions about the Namaz at the polling booth. Locals have demanded the strict legal actions against the Mamaji. Further details regarding any official action or response from the election authorities are awaited.-----------
