
Hooghly, 10 April (H.S.): Tanmay Ghosh has filed his nomination as the Trinamool Congress candidate from the Serampore Assembly constituency, with his election affidavit detailing his income, assets and liabilities.
According to the affidavit, the 45-year-old politician is a graduate in Chemical Engineering from Jadavpur University. He has declared that no criminal cases are pending against him nor has he been convicted in any case.
In terms of income, Ghosh reported earnings of approximately Rs 13.69 lakh for the financial year 2024–25. His wife, Baishali Saha, an assistant teacher at a higher secondary school, declared an income of Rs 9.38 lakh.
Regarding assets, Ghosh has declared movable assets worth around Rs 2.34 crore in his name. These include bank deposits, mutual funds, insurance policies, provident fund, fixed deposits, gold jewellery and a four-wheeler vehicle. His wife holds movable assets exceeding Rs 1.12 crore, while a dependent has assets worth nearly Rs 30 lakh.
Under immovable assets, Ghosh owns a flat in Sonarpur with an estimated market value of about Rs 46 lakh. His wife owns a flat in Bolpur, Birbhum district, valued at approximately Rs 14 lakh.
On the liabilities front, Ghosh has declared dues of around Rs 17.49 lakh, including home loan, bank loan and vehicle loan. His wife has liabilities amounting to about Rs 7.06 lakh.
Overall, the combined assets of Ghosh and his family run into several crores, while liabilities remain comparatively modest.
Political observers believe that with a strong financial background and a clean image, Ghosh could make the contest in Serampore more competitive.
