(HS): The Department of Revenue Intelligence team seized gold worth Rs 37.74
crore at Mumbai Airport. The department arrested 24 foreign women in illegal passion
of 29.37 kg of gold.
The investigating
officer said on Friday that a group of women from Nairobi came to Mumbai. Based
in intelligence information the 24 women coming from Nairobi were stopped for
checking, to which they opposed. The security personnel checked the luggage and
clothes to find 25.1 kg gold bars and 4.27 kg gold jewellery.
The women were
trained to conceal the smuggled gold and to skip detection of smuggling. The
DRI arrested 24 women and initiated enquiry ito the bigger racket connected to
the gold smuggling.
