Bhubaneswar, 01 April (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his warm wishes on the occasion of Utkal Diwas.
Responding to the Prime Minister’s message, Majhi thanked him on behalf of the people of Odisha for recognizing the state’s rich history and cultural heritage, stating that the message deeply resonated with every Odia. He also highlighted the strong cultural ties between Odisha and Gujarat, reflected in shared traditions such as the Sun Temples and Rath Yatra, and noted Modi’s participation in the Ahmedabad Rath Yatra as a symbol of this unity.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the Centre’s continued support for Odisha’s development, citing the ₹10,600 crore railway allocation for 2025–26 and focus on port-led growth as key drivers for transforming the state into a major industrial and maritime hub. He also appreciated the Prime Minister’s recognition of state initiatives like Subhadra Yojana and Lakhpati Didi, which promote women’s empowerment.
Reaffirming his government’s commitment to preserving Odia identity and culture, Majhi said Odisha aims to contribute to the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” by building a “Viksit Odisha,” with the blessings of Lord Jagannath and support of its people.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi extended greetings on Odisha Day, describing the state as a timeless symbol of cultural and spiritual greatness.
