Shivsagar (Assam), 01 April (HS): APCC President Gaurav Gogoi on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Assam government, alleging that the opening of liquor shops has negatively impacted the state’s younger generation.

Addressing a public rally in Nazira in the presence of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, Gogoi claimed that the BJP government has been promoting liquor sales, which, according to him, is harming the future of Assam’s youth.

He asserted that if the Congress returns to power in the state, all liquor outlets opened under the tenure of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma would be shut down. Gogoi reiterated that the Congress is committed to protecting the younger generation and will take strict measures against the expansion of liquor businesses.

The remarks came during an election rally in Nazira as campaigning intensifies ahead of the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.------------
