India's Consul General in Shanghai, Prateek Mathur, affirmed that music and dance surpass linguistic and geographical divides, serving as vital cultural bridges that deepen mutual understanding and friendship between India and its global partners.The Consulate General organized Vasant Baithak at its cultural center on March 4, drawing over 1,000 attendees—including diplomatic corps members, distinguished guests, the Indian community, and friends from China and worldwide.
This largest-ever cultural event by the Shanghai Consulate fostered robust exchange, highlighted by significant Chinese participation.Mathur portrayed spring as a season of renewal, vibrancy, and joy in India, celebrated through festivals, melodies, dances, and gatherings—precisely the spirit embodied here. Performances bridged artists and audiences, offering profound insight into Indian classical traditions: expressive Kuchipudi dance followed by captivating sarangi and sitar renditions, encapsulating centuries of philosophy, aesthetics, and spiritual wisdom.
