Bhubaneswar, 07 March (H.S.): Several districts of Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds over the next three days, the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said on Saturday.

Thunderstorms with winds of 30–40 kmph may occur at isolated locations in districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and others. A yellow warning has been issued for these areas.

Meanwhile, an orange warning has been issued for Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Sundargarh from 8:30 a.m. on March 8 to 8:30 a.m. on March 9, indicating the possibility of more intense weather. Isolated thunderstorms are also expected in these districts on March 9–10.

Meteorologists attributed the unsettled weather to an upper air cyclonic circulation over Odisha extending up to 1.5 km above sea level, along with a trough stretching from Odisha to northwest Uttar Pradesh via north Chhattisgarh and northeast Madhya Pradesh.
