
Pune, 07 Mar (HS): Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Research
and Training Institute (BARTI) will soon open its sub-centre in Chhatrapati
Sambhajinagar. The Maharashtra Government has approved the proposal and has earmarked
Rs 238.11 crore for construction of premises over ten acres of land.
The sub-centre will have facility to accommodate
1,000 students in its hostel and train them. The facility to be developed is a
big boost for the aspiring students from the Marathwada region.
According to a survey conducted by the Department of
Social Welfare and Justice in 2011, the highest number of scheduled castes are
in Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Nagpur. BARTI with headquarters in Pune
has opened a sub-centre in Nagpur and has plans to open another sub-centre in
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Skill development, research and training are
conducted through this centre. The students also get financial assistance from
the state government.
