Mar (HS): The Opposition members staged a walkout alleging the ruling alliance

trying to protect those involved in SBL Energies Ltd blast in Raulgaon, Nagpur.

The issue

was raised by Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar through a Call Attention Motion,

and asked why an offence of Culpable Homicide leading to deaths of 19 workers,

was not registered against the owner and others responsible for the blast. Several deficiencies, including lack of firefighting

equipment, Risk Assessment was not carried out, instead of two only one

security officer was present, Medical Officer never visited the site, no CCTV,

lack of safety audit and lack of proper training in handling explosives etc.

also asked how the PESO, which has headquarters in Nagpur, issued safety

certificate to the company.

Wadettiwar

and other members of the Opposition were not satisfied with the minister’s

reply and condemned him and the ruling alliance for protecting the guilty and

staged walkout.
