Kokrajhar (Assam), 05 March (HS): Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) president Hagrama Mohilary has said that the party will contest the upcoming elections under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) banner instead of projecting it as a BPF-BJP alliance.
Speaking to reporters, Mohilary stated that the BPF will fight the election on 11 seats out of 15 in Bodoland as part of the NDA and the party’s candidates will also be announced under the NDA banner. He clarified that the alliance partners are working in coordination to strengthen the coalition ahead of the polls.
The BPF chief further informed that discussions are currently underway regarding candidates in the 11 constituencies where the party is likely to field its nominees independently. Party leaders are deliberating on which candidates should be given tickets in these constituencies.
Mohilary added that consultations within the party and with alliance partners are continuing to finalize the names. The aim, he said, is to select strong and winnable candidates who can represent the NDA effectively in the upcoming election.
The announcement comes amid heightened political activity in Assam as parties and alliances intensify preparations ahead of the Assembly polls. BPF, which has been a key political force in the Bodoland region, is expected to play an important role in the NDA’s electoral strategy in several constituencies.-----------
