
Mumbai, 04 Mar (HS): The Surya Dam Project Affected
in Palghar district will get ownership of their land after a long wait of 45
years. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced in the Legislative
Assembly that the documents relating to land ownership to the 205 project
affected will be issued within one month. The issue was raised by MLA Rajendra
Gavit.
Gavit stated that 11 villages were displaced for the
project, which was constructed and completed between 1970 and 1982. Out of
these villages two villages, Chandranagar and Hanumannagar, were displaced. The
displaced villagers were not paid the compensation nor documents to the
alternative land given to them.
Bawankule informed the house that out of 467 project
effected villagers documents were issued for 262 villagers. The delay was
caused due non fixation of village boundaries and proper measurement of plots.
The process of measuring and fixing boundaries was in progress. At some places
problems of encroachment was noticed. However, the work will be completed
within one month.
Gavit also raised the issue of land acquisition for
Wadhwan Port. And Bullet Train projects Bawankule said that the pending issue
are being sorted out and expressed confidence that the problems of farmers
affected by the projects will be sorted out soon.
