Kamrup (Assam), 04 March (HS): Amid the festivities of Holi, a tragic road accident claimed the life of a man at Joyguru in Amingaon on Tuesday night.

According to reports, the victim killed on the spot after being hit by a dumper bearing registration number AS-25-FC-0928. The vehicle was engaged in construction work on the connecting road from the IIT Guwahati road to the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

The deceased has been identified as Tulsi Ram Sharma, a resident of Rajasthan. He was reportedly working under contractors Pritam Sharma and Anurag Talukdar, who are overseeing the construction of the newly developed road.

Following the accident, the driver of the dumper fled the scene. However, police from North Guwahati’s Gauripur outpost later seized the vehicle involved in the incident. The dumper is reportedly owned by Pradip Kalita.

Police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to GNRC Hospital in North Guwahati for post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, allegations have surfaced that both the police and the contractor’s side attempted to suppress the incident. It has also been alleged that the dumper involved in the accident did not possess the necessary documents.-----------
